Adele D. Hansen (91) joined her Lord and Savior on June 16th at Nathan Adelson Hospice, surrounded by her whole family. Adele was born in Nice, France on November 26, 1926 and lived her early childhood in Sweden and England until she migrated to America at 9 years old. She, along with her Mother and Sister lived in Washington Heights of New York City.
After graduating from George Washington High School, she went on to Secretarial School. During the second World War she helped farmers pick crops and later worked at a war plant producing life rafts for the military.
Adele met her loving husband, Herb, when they were both teenagers. They joined their hearts as one in Holy Matrimony on October 6th of 1951 at Our Savior's Atonement Lutheran Church in New York City.
Following a few years of traveling, the couple settled in Las Vegas in the Fall of 1953. Adele was a caring and loving mother of two sons, Christian and Paul. In 1974, when the boys were in their teens, Adele went to UNLV to pursue a Nursing Degree, earning her RN in 1980. She served as a nurse in a number of hospitals in Southern Nevada, mostly at University Medical Center. Adele was a warm-hearted person who loved her Lord Jesus, her family and all those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adele and John Dunbar, brother Jack Dunbar and sister June Watson. Surviving are her husband Herb, sons Christian (and Tanya) and Paul (and Janice), and four grandchildren, Amy, Alyssa, Breanna and Hayden, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Reformation Lutheran church on Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m., followed by a light lunch. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be offered to Reformation Lutheran Church or Nathan Adelson Hospice.
