ARLENE CLARA BRACKEN CARTER
Dec. 23 1921——Aug 10 2020

Arlene "Toni" Carter was born in Central Utah December 23 1921 to Vivian and Clara Bracken. She was the 4th of their 9 children and oldest of serviving 2 daughters. She lived on the family farm and went to school in Central Utah a tiny town 30 miles from St. George. she had to travel that 30 miles twice a week to attend high school in st. George and graduated in 1939. She moved to the Vegas Valley 1940 watched a cousins kids.

She married the love of her Lewis "Ted" Carter on Oct 26th 1946, when Ted saw her working at a laundry in Las Vegas. He decided then and there her would marry that lady and the did after nearly 5 years of dates. Although Arlene and Ted never had kids of there own due to her having survived uterine cancer, she did gain 2 daughters, Barbara and Louise, In the marriage. After Teds"s passing in Oct 1982 Arlene never remarried.

Toni, as she was known to so many, was a Magnesium Maggie, a Cookbook Chemist, or a Rosie the riveter where she worked 3yrs for the Basic Magnesium Project in Basic NV as part of WWII and the US Department of Defense, with her husband Ted who got her her job. After the war Arlene and Ted both moved to Stauffer Chemical Plant in now named Henderson. Toni worked there in the labs as a chemist for 30 more year until she finally retired saying "enough enough.

Sister Carter, Arlene stayed active in the Mormon Church all her life and was Temple recommended right uptown the time of passing. She traveled over seas for the Church to do Family Genealogy research for the families of the Mormon Church, which is why our family has such complete family tree.

Aunt Arlene had many hobbies. She loved to quilt by hand and in later years by machine. She enjoyed gardening, traveling , cooking, and many other arts and crafts and her friends and especially her family

Madam Past President Carter t [as well as many other offices titles] was also one of the first members of the Henderson Eagles Lodge Basic Arie #2672 and was active in it and the community for as many years as she was able to. She was stilll a member at the time of passing she had 76 yrs continuous membership. Arlene was also very involved with friend and especially her Family which meant the world to her. She continued to stay active in as much as she could unto the time of her passing in her sleep at her home of about 70 years on August 10 2020 with her niece Joan at her side holding her hand when she left this earth for her heavenly new home.

Arlene was preceded in death by both parents and all 8 of her siblings. Afton 1920-1920, Jay 1918-1974, Reid 1915-11987, Dean 1932-2000, Les 1924-2003, Dale 1936-2011, Calvin 1927-2016, Anna 1930-2019.

There is so much more that I could say about Arlene, fav color yellow, drank 1 Pepsi a day, etc enough to fill one heck of a book. I know that this sound more like a eulogy than an obituary but its been extremely hard to put her 98 1/2 amazing years into these few paragraphs. Those of you who knew her will understand. Toni had so many great friends and a large loving family and this extraordinary Lady will be greatly missed. Heaven has gained an amazing new Angel……
