Arno Willard Buntrock, 93 of Las Vegas, passed away on July 3,2006.
He was born June 17,1913 in Alamakee County, Iowa and resided in Las Vegas for 26 years.
Arno was a first lietenant in the U.S. Army from February 1943 to May 1947. From 1950 to 1968 he was a professor/athletic trainer for the University of Iowa. Arno retired in July 1978 from Bemidji State University in Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his twin children,Mary Buntrock Merkel and Joseph D. Buntrock; and wife, Rose Budreau Buntrock whom he married July 10,1942.
Arno is survived by his children, Dr. Marcia J. Buntrock(Ronald W.) Niska, Richard Buntrock, Rosemarie Buntrock, Musante,Arnie(alejandra)Buntrock, Deborah Buntrock (Nick) Rose,Paul(Deborah Clayton) Buntrock and Annette Buntrock (Roy) Gentry.
He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Marcus Niska, Amber Merkel, Tony and Kayle Musante, Christina and Rachel Buntock, Paul, Mary and Olivia Rose, and Blythe and Kennedy Buntrock.
As the esteemed write, John Le Carre stated, "In today's world, one has to act likea hero just to live merely as a decent human being." Arno lived his life as a hero.
