In Loving Memory of Carl Friedrichs
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carl Friedrichs on January 30, 2024, at the age of 87. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Kay, and his daughters: His Favorite Trish Lucero(Dale), His Favorite Cindy Martin(Rick), and His Favorite Angela Sylvester. Along with sons: John Barlow(Pamela) Scott(Lisa) Wisham, and Christopher(Jennifer) Wisham. His joy extended to his grandchildren: Clint, Aimee (John), Amanda, Lauren, Hailee, Tyson, Kamryn, Henry, Emilo, Mallory(Cody), Mitchell(Serretta), Ashley(Kolby),Torrey(Landon), Melanie(Marcus), Whitney(Jeffrey) and great-grandchildren Zoey, Maci, Steele, Ryan, Ethyn, Jeryn, Evyn, Jayson, Koltyn, Alyson, Nathyn, Merrick, Maddox, Armani, Amora, Dixie, Max, Lucas, Bronson, and Tatum.
Life was enriched by the love of his family, and he was proud to be the big brother of Robert Friedrichs(Nancy). He also had numerous cousins and looked forward to attending the Annual Cousins Reunion each year to reconnect.
In his lifetime, Carl faced the pain of loss, being preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Elmer Friedrichs, brother William Friedrichs, Sister Eileen Braham, son Michael Friedrichs, son-in-law Robert Sylvester, and grandson Jason Sylvester.
Born to Katherine and Elmer Friedrichs, Carl grew up in a household where his father's work at the Union Pacific Railroad ignited a lifelong passion for trains. This passion manifested itself in his home and in the joy he found through volunteering at The Nevada State Railroad Museum. A lover of card and dice games, he had a perpetual jigsaw puzzle on the go, reflecting his fondness for engaging challenges and the joy of completing them. A man who never met a stranger, Carl will be remembered for his warm smile, welcoming nature, and the ability to recall stories and anecdotes that left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the countless memories shared by anyone who knew him.
In honoring Carl's memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Nevada State Railroad Museum in recognition of his passion for preserving the history of the railroad.
