CLARENCE MCKINNIS Clarence Dean McKinnis passed away January 26, 2018. He was born September 21, 1930, in Boise, Idaho, to Ethel and Kelly McKinnis.
He was a devoted husband to Charmaine for more than 53 years. Dean was beloved father of Michael, Gary, David, Karla, Dianna and Debra; and "Papa Dean" to his grandchildren, Keith,, Chelsea and AZ, Holly, Sam, Sierra, Evan, Donovan and Lily; and to great-grandson, Lukas. Dean was uncle to Lynda, David and Gloria.
Dean served in the Washington State National Guard for four years after he graduated from high school. For many years, Dean was a professional fast pitch softball player, known for his outstanding pitching skills. He was a sports fan extraordinaire. Dean worked in the gaming business for decades in Las Vegas and Laughlin, and retired from the Hilton Hotel Corporation after more than 30 years of service.
He was a masterful storyteller with an amazing memory, who regaled family and friends with interesting and entertaining tales of his adventures. Dean was also a talented pianist. He mesmerized us with beautiful impromptu performances. He was a kind and generous man, who always stepped up to help anyone in need. Dean loved his family and his Lord Jesus above all.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Kelly; his brother, Gary; and his sister, Patricia. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas.
