Clive Jay Knapp, age 80, died peacefully at home with his wife by his side, on January 1st, 2020. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 9th, 1939 to Arnold and Frances (Gardner) Knapp. At age 20, Clive served a two year mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Great Britain. He then graduated from BYU, where he played piano for the school's first rock band, "The Y'ld Cats." After graduation he joined the Marine Corps and, upon returning from boot camp, he married the love of his life, Renae Richie, in the Logan Utah Temple on a beautiful snowy December day. Together, for over 57 years, they raised 5 amazing sons and built a life full of excitement, success, lots of fun, trials, faith, and love.
Clive excelled as a father and will always be loved, immeasurably, by his boys. He will be most remembered for his irreverent and charming humor, clever wit, famous Clive-isms, his trademark ragtime piano playing, and most of all for his deep love for his family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Clive was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lowell Knapp, his sister Eleanor Knapp Kennard, and his sons, Barry Knapp and Daniel Knapp. He is survived by his wife Renae, sons Michael (Deborah) Knapp, David (Alyona) Knapp, and Rich (Kellie) Knapp, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
