Cloyd Garland Thompson, was born Jan. 10, 1915 in Braddyville, Iowa and passed away Jan. 2, 2004. Evelyn Thompson was born April 23, 1918 in Sharpsburg, Iowa and passed away in November 2003. Cloyd and Evelyn grew up in Iowa and married on Nov. 6, 1937. Shortly before Evelyn's death, they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Cloyd worked on various highway projects in Colorado before moving to Las Vegas in 1970 to eventually become part of the grounds crew at UNLV. Cloyd was an avid gardener and well-suited to that job. He happily retired to a large lot with room to garden in Pahrump in 1981 where he proceeded to grow the best garlic in town. Cloyd and Evelyn enjoyed retirement for nearly 23 years and will be sorely missed by their friends, neighbors and especially their family. Cloyd and Evelyn were preceded in death by their parents; his sister, Altha; and brother Carroll; her brothers, Oscar and Wayne; her sisters, Helen, Hazel and Gertie; their infant son, Gary Lee; and their granddaughter, Tracy Lynn. They are survived by his brothers, Ivan and Delmar; her sisters, Hattie, Bernita, Coryal and Edna; their sons, Roger Alan of Las Vegas and Cloyd Eugene of Norwood, Colo.; their four granddaughters, Tori Bullock (Angus MacEachern), Vicki Priest (Greg), Dawn Vieyra (Dennis), all of Las Vegas, and Trina Davis (Sean) of Winnemucca. They are also survived by their great-grandchildren, April Ostrander, Christopher Bullock, Alec and Kelsey Priest and Joshua MacEachern, all of Las Vegas, Torianne and Ray Davis of Winnemucca, Alan Collins of Washington; their great-great-grandson, Cole Ray Wilson of Las Vegas; and many friends in Pahrump and Las Vegas. Viewing from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9. Services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, both at Bunkers Chapel. Burial will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens.
