Craig Harper

December 3, 1951 — July 2, 2020

Craig Harper 68, of Las Vegas passed away July 2, 2020. He was born December 3, 1951 in
Copenhagen Denmark where his father was stationed in the US Air Force. In his early years he
participated in the Special Olympics playing basketball before finding his love for bowling
where he earned many trophies and awards. This is a passion he shared with his soulmate and
longtime companion Gayleene Richards. He loved spending time with Gayleene and his family,
going to the movies, out to dinners, and always joking with his great nieces and nephew. He
loved old horror movies, building model cars, and anything and everything to do with drawing
and art. He was a long time employee of Opportunity Village working in the donation trucks
before entering into the arts and Enrichment program. This was a dream come true for him. On
January 18, 2008 he was one of nine artists featured in the Opportunity Village Benefit
Exhibition downtown where he had 8 pieces of work displayed. On January 22, 2008 he made
news in the arts and entertainment section of the Las Vegas Sun covering the event. He was
loving, caring, and funny. He was our angel and our hero. He had a jolly laugh that was
contagious and he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. As he
joins his parents and Gayleene in paradise the family would like to thank Opportunity Village,
everyone in the arts and enrichment program, Anita, Glenda, Debbie, Jill and many others who
have helped Craig live his dreams and have a full and meaningful life filled with love and
happiness.
Left to carry on his memory are his uncle Frank, his brother Dan Harper, his sister Sheila
Reeder, his nieces Jaime Harper and Joanna Harper, his nephews David Reeder, Danny Harper,
and Alec Harper, and his great nieces and nephews all of whom he loved deeply.
In Lieu of flowers the family would like you to donate in his memory to opportunity Village and
help support the organization who has helped Craig and many like him, making beautiful
differences in their lives.
