David Schuyler Platt

April 12, 1947 — January 19, 2021

DAVID SCHUYLER PLATT returned to arms of our Lord on January 19, 2021. He was born on April 12, 1947 to Alfred Carlton and Felice (Schuyler) Platt in Wellsville, New York and spent his childhood in West Almond, New York.
Dave was a Vietnam Veteran. He joined the USAF in 1966 and while stationed at Nellis AFB, met the love of his life Vicki Jean Jones. Upon his return from Thailand, they married on April 12, 1969 at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church.
Dave was a 51 year resident of Las Vegas, a skilled heavy duty equipment mechanic and a member of Teamsters Local 631. He enjoyed "tinkering" on anything with a motor. If there was a problem, he could fix it. No matter what your need, you could always count on Dave to lend a helping hand. Dave's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, whether it was camping and exploring on ATV's, tailgating at the Rebel football games or just hanging out. Dave always had a phone clipped to one side of his belt and a tape measure on the other. The phone, to keep up with family and friends, the tape measure, just in case he needed to measure something!
Dave is survived by his wife Vicki Platt, son David Erik and wife Susan Platt of Enoch, UT, daughter Angela Platt, grandchildren Cooper Platt and fiancé Ashley Reddington, Delaney Platt and Sadie Platt, all of Las Vegas. Brothers Winston (Sandy) Platt and Brent Platt, sister Judy (Larry) Bettello, all of New York. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeri and Dennis Ballew of Las Vegas. Nieces and nephews Sharon, John (Amy), Gloria and Anna Platt, Brent Jr (Michelle), Tracy, Christopher (Chandra), Laura and Andrew Platt, Jenna (Francky) Antoine and Amanda Bettello, all of New York, Shaun (Jennifer) Ballew, of Las Vegas.
We will miss Dave's jovial laugh and huge heart. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be held on February 24th at Veterans' Memorial Park, Boulder City, NV. Due to Covid the gathering is limited. Services will be recorded and placed online for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity close to your heart are appreciated.
