David C. Plummer Obituary

David Plummer passed away peacefully at home in Las Vegas, NV on May 8, 2019 at the age of 93. David was born in Centralia, Washington on November 16, 1925 to Charles Thomas Plummer and Ethel May Wells Plummer.
David met his sweetheart, Lenora Marie Martin, in the hospital in Yakima, Washington in 1945 where she was a nurse cadet after having crashed his motorcycle. The two married on December 27, 1946, eloping on that same motorcycle! David and Marie had three children- Thomas, born in 1949, Jill, in 1954 and Andrew in 1963. Dave & Marie remained sweethearts up until her passing on May 8, 2009 (10 years to the day from David's own passing).
David spent most of his working career in the Nuclear Energy field as a radiation monitor; working in the 1950's & early 60's at the Hanford test site in Washington State before coming out in 1964 to the Nevada Test site and finally returning in the 70's back to Hanford before retiring at the age of 62 in 1987. As a cold war veteran, David was always very proud of the work he did for his country while at the Test Sites.
David was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was Cub Scout Pack Master, Scoutmaster, Sea Explorer Skipper for both his sons, future son-in-law, nephew and so many other boys. Serving continuously in many adult volunteer scouting positions, including District Commissioner for the Red Rock District of the Boulder Dam Area Council, his many contributions were recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.
In keeping with his lifelong passion for service, David joined the Masons, becoming Master of the Yakima, Washington Lodge. After moving to Las Vegas, he continued his Masonic service joining the Zelzah Shriners, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and becoming an active member of the local Las Vegas Lodge. After retiring, he and Marie were very active members of the "NCT", a Masonic Family Camping Club, traveling to rally's around the nation in their RV enjoying their other twin passions- traveling & camping!
David will be most remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His "John Wayne" physique and rolling cowboy walk born from a childhood of riding (and breaking wild horses), will always shine in our memory as he rides into the sunset.
David was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elsie (Jack) Starkel, son, Andrew Plummer and his beloved wife, Marie. He leaves behind his son, Thomas (Marilyn) Plummer and daughter, Jill (Wayne) Christensen; Grandchildren Rebecka Christensen, Maria (Shaun) Olsen and David Christensen; and Great-Grandchildren Lilly Olsen, Andrew Olsen, Nathaniel Olsen, Thomas Olsen, Jaxon Christensen, Brooklynn Christensen, Clayton Christensen, Julianna Plummer, Rocky Plummer and Addi Plummer.
Viewing will be on Monday, May 13 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Bunkers Funeral Home, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Las Vegas, NV. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, May 14 at 1 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 111 N. Torry Pines Dr. with internment following at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Las Vegas, NV
