Donna Loveland York, 78, a homemaker of North Las Vegas died July 16,2006. She was born on October 27,1927 in Bancroft, Idaho and resided in Nevada for 52 years.
Donna married the man of her dreams Hugh York, in 1949 in Rockford, Ill. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the St. George Temple.
She was the mother of 10 very active children. Donna and her husband owned a market on Nellis Boulevard from 1964 to 1974. All the children learned how to run a business, cut meat, stock shelves and have fun together. They sold the store in 1974. Donna also sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry, winning many awards and prizes including a trip to the Carribean. After retiring from Sarah Coventry, she concentrated on gardening, crocheting and baking.
She served as a member of the Singing Mothers in the North Las Vegas Stake sharing her love for music with others. Donna also served 10 years as a temple worker in the Las Vegas Temple. One of the highlights of that service was to work with the missionaries who attended the temple. Donna and her husband Hugh John, served a three year service mission for the church. She has served in various other positions in the Primary and Relief Society. Her first priority has always been her family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard York; daughter, Donna Jean Peters; her parents, Josiah Howe and Nancy Loveland; 10 of her brothers and sisters and four grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Hugh John York Sr; sons, Robert(Ann) Landgon, Hugh John (Gay) York, Jr. Ron(Cynthia)York, Danny(Landa)York of North Las Vegas, Tim(Michelin) York of Bellingham,Washington, James(L'Donna)York of Las Vegas;and Mark(Lisa) York of Chicago; and daughter, Debra(Roger)Peeples of Henderson.
She is also survived by her brothers, Odell Loveland of Las Vegas, and Lynn Loveland of North Las Vegas; sister, Leah Morgan of Modesto,California; 30 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.
