Edith E. Reynolds, fondly known as “Liz” was born on December 31, 1935, to the late Clarence Morse and Rosa Turpin, where she spent her childhood years living and educated in Norlina, North Carolina.
Liz attended Virginia State College (HBCU), and graduated in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education. On August 22, 1959 she joined in holy matrimony to Louis E. Reynolds, from which union they had three children. Almost eleven years after marriage, Liz received the untimely news of the death of her husband, while serving in active-duty Air Force.
As a devoted mother, Edith’s love knew no bounds. She courageously moved forward with her three boys, and purchased a home in Clinton, Maryland, forging a path of opportunity and prosperity for her family. Her unwavering dedication and sacrifices will forever be cherished.
In 1982, Liz moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and faithfully worked in the convention center over 30 years. While living there, she hosted many of her family and friends who would faithfully come to visit. Anyone who knew Liz, would testify that she knew how to “throw down” in the kitchen, and make her guest feel right at home.
Her hobbies were making button quilts, and collecting stamps. Over the years, she collected a wide array of precious stamps that she often pulled out to show her guest when they came to town. Above all, Liz will forever be known for her immaculate bell collection, which ranged from crystal, brass and porcelain. She was meticulous in her record keeping, and was recognized as an authority in that field, acquiring over 1,000 bells.
Above all, Edith was a mighty woman of God, having attended Desert Baptist Church, close to 40 years. Her unwavering faith illuminated her path, guiding her through life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Her life exemplified the virtues of kindness, wisdom, and love.
Though Edith may no longer walk among us, her legacy lives on with all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind three sons: Gregory, Jeffrey, and Brian; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and dear friends.
