Eleanor "Ellie" Anne McGivney

Eleanor "Ellie" Anne McGivney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on January 18, 1940, in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York, Ellie was the cherished daughter of Sophia Geoghan and Francis Valente.
In 1961, Ellie married the love of her life, James McGivney, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing. Together, they built a life centered on family and love, eventually moving to Las Vegas in 1972. Ellie worked as a cashier at the Union Plaza Hotel, where her friendly demeanor and hard work were cherished by colleagues and patrons alike.
Ellie was devoted to her family. She is survived by her son James McGivney II and his wife Susan, along with their children, Marissa and Scotland. Ellie also had a special place in her heart for her stepdaughters and their families, including Theresa and her husband Kyle, Kirk and his wife Sarah Jane, and Henry "Rudy" and his wife Andy. She was a proud grandmother to nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ellie was preceded in death by her beloved husband James, her parents, and her siblings Janet Collins, Theresa Menture, William "Billy" Flaherty, and James "Jimmy" Flaherty. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Dolores Cartwright, Tommy Gilbride, Jack Flaherty, and Johnny Geoghan, who were all an integral part of her life.
A devout member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Anne's Church, Ellie’s faith guided her life and inspired those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Services to honor Ellie’s life will be held on January 2, 2025. A viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church. The burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Eden Vale Memorial Park.
Ellie’s enduring love, faith, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.
