ERNEST R. BARNUM (1927 - 2018)

Ernie Barnum, 91, known to many as “Barney”, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was a member of a pioneer Nevada family and a life-long Las Vegas resident until his  recent move to Sonoma, CA in April 2015. He was born October 14, 1927 in Las Vegas to Ida Leavitt Barnum and Robert Barnum.   He was married to his loving wife, Clarice (who passed in 2009), for 58 wonderful years.

Ernie worked at Deluca Liquor & Wine for over 60 years.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially Eagle Valley, NV where he and the family would spend summers fishing and hiking at their home.

Ernie’s motto was always family first and he was a kind and loving soul.  Ernie is survived by his son, Rob Barnum (David) of San Francisco, CA; daughters, Diana Bretz of Lawrence, KS and Carol Mahiai of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Ryne Bretz of Lawrence, KS and Katelyn Scott of Las Vegas; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 3rd from 5pm - 7pm and his service will be Friday, January 4th at 10 am - both at Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas, NV.  Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
