Esther Clarissa Blount-Hines

Esther was the fourth of five sisters—Sharon, Janice, and Carol—who now joyfully welcome her into eternity, reunited with their beloved parents, Aaron and Marian. Her last remaining sister, Terri, carries on her legacy with strength and love.

Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, Esther later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to begin a new chapter of her life at the Stardust. A woman of many passions, she found joy in the pages of a good book, the serenity of her garden, and the simple pleasure of canning. She loved watching Jeopardy and would cheer enthusiastically whenever she got the answers right—which was most of the time. She was a woman of deep faith, maintaining a steadfast relationship with our Lord and Savior, who enveloped her in His grace at all times. She was also a devoted sports fan, cheering wholeheartedly for the New York Mets and New York Knicks.

Above all, Esther was a mother—loving, selfless, and devoted. Her five children—Michael, Lamont, Derryck, Maya, and Noelle—were the center of her world, and they will forever cherish the love, wisdom, and unwavering support she gave them. But she was more than a mother; she was a proud and adoring grandmother, “Mimi,” to Sophia, Milo, and Jasmine; who couldn’t have asked for a better “Mimi”, a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and a dear friend to so many.

To all who knew her, she was our queen—a woman of grace, resilience, and boundless love. She was The People’s Mom, a guiding light, a source of comfort, and a constant presence of warmth and strength. Her embrace felt like home, her wisdom like a compass, and her love like an unbreakable thread woven into the lives of those she touched. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those blessed to have known her.
