Frances Eva Mikulich, 82, a third generation Nevadan was taken to paradise by the angels on Friday, December 15,2006.
Frances was born in Las Vegas on August 28,1924. She attended the "Old" Las Vegas Grammar School on 5th Street and was a 1942 graduate of the "original" Las Vegas High School. Frances was an owner/partner of the Ambassador Motel on 9th and Fremont and the Best Western Ambassador East Motor Inn on 10th and Fremont. She held the position of vice president of accounting. The family sold the business in the 90's. Her parents Sam and Lily Mikulich were pioneer prominent Las Vegan. Frances was a member of the Altar Society at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She held an office in the Catholic Daughters in the Americas Court Ave Maria 1420 and was a member for over 50 years. Frances was very quiet and unassuming in all the works that she did for the charities through the Catholic Daughters. One never heard Frances complain about anything. She was most giving and loving to all her family and her friends... a very kind and gentle spirit. Frances was also well traveled. She first toured her state ( she loved "Home Means Nevada") from every site, from north to south. Her traveling adventures took her abroad to Europe, The Holy Lands, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, South American and on board the Queen Mary ship. Some of the favorite spots in the United States that she visited were New York, San Francisco, South Carolina, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Texas and Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam and Lily Mikulich; two older brothers, John and Joseph Mikulich; and her younger sister, Capt. Lily Patricia Mikulich Forrester, U.S. Air Force.
Frances is survived by her sister, Rosemary Mikulich Pisani; her brother-in-law, Mildred and Betty Mikulich; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
