Frank "Stan" Essary
Frank Stanton "Stan" Essary, 64, of Las Vegas passed away Monday, March 23, 2020, at Desert Springs Hospital following complications from a heart attack he suffered in January.
Mr. Essary was born July 28, 1955, in Kansas City, Kansas, son of Frank and Vera (Hare) Essary. He married Pong Sun Pak April 11, 1983, in Seoul, Korea.
Stan was raised in Kansas City and Riverton, Kansas, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1974. He served for 24 years as an aircraft fuel systems mechanic and ICBM station non-commissioned officer, retiring in 1998 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Stan deployed to Saudi Arabia twice, first during the Iran-Iraq War and later during Operation Desert Storm. He was also very proud of his support of Operation Just Cause in 1989, when he was sent to Panama to repair a broken aircraft being used to evacuate American citizens. Over the course of his career he was assigned to nine duty stations, including seven years deployed overseas in South Korea, where he met his wife, Pong. After retiring from the active duty, Stan and Pong settled in Oxnard, California, where they operated a gift store for many years before moving to Las Vegas in 2008. Stan also worked for the Navy and Air Force Exchanges for many years.
Stan is survived by his wife, Pong Essary, of Las Vegas; children, Jeramy Essary of Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Angel Barnes of Pacific Grove, California; two grandchildren, Presley Barnes and Callie Barnes; and many other relatives and friends.
