Frankie Carl Lorthridge

December 4, 1947 — December 23, 2020

On December 04, 1947 the world was blessed by the birth of Frankie “Frank” Carl Lorthridge in Overton, TX to the union of Frank D.  and Nola Lorthridge.  Frank departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.   Frank was one of seven children four brothers and two sisters. He received and confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young adult.

Frank received his education in Rusk County public school system in Overton, Texas. He graduated from Overton High School in 1967.  He was one of the students when Overton High first integrated.  He was a very active and an all-around sports man.  His first love was the game of basketball which he played throughout High School and College.  He attended Pan American College now known as “University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for four years.”  His coach at Pan American College was the late Walter “Sam” Williams.   With the height of six feet eight inches tall he played the “Center” position.  His stats during each season while in Collage were as listed: average points 15.6, rebound 13.1, and with 0.7 assists per game.  He was well on his way to the NBA before the injury of both knees’.

Things took a change when Frank moved to Orange County California in the city of Santa Ana where he met the love of his life Linda Faye Bell in the early seventies.  This union was blessed with two beautiful girls Alisha Renee and Kara Lynn.

Frank’s occupation at Carr Intermediate High School which was held for thirty-eight year as a Physical Education instructor as well as a multi-sports coach until retirement in 2007.  He was a man that exemplified the mean of dedication.  Frank was dedicated to his family, friends, and the students.  He was always encouraging his students to do well.  Stay in school, get your education, and become a model citizen.  He would say “stand up, stand out, and be counted, for you are somebody!”

Frank was a member of Calvary Chapel under the leadership of the late Chuck Smith.  Frank later met and united in holy matrimony to Cherry Ann Lorthridge who preceded him in death.  Shortly after retiring he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2009, where he joined True Life Tabernacle of Faith under the leadership of Bishop Bruce Stevenson and Pastor Linda Stevenson. Where he was ordained as a Deacon.

Preceding him death are his wife, father, mother, four siblings, and one daughter: Cherry Ann Lorthridge, Frank D. Lorthridge, Nola Lorthridge, Bernard Lorthridge, Eleen Lorthridge, Lola Lorthridge, Donnie Lorthridge, and Kara Lynn Lorthridge.

Frank leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter Alisha Renee Adams of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers Willis Lorthridge and Oran Lorthridge of Overton, TX; two grand-daughters Briana D Dillihunt of Las Vegas, NV, Jaclynn J. Adams of Lawton, OK; one uncles  Robert E. Cooper of Tylor, TX; one aunt Lucy Mae Foster of Tylor, TX; a special cousin James Lorthridge (his mentor) of Clermont, FL; three brothers-in-law James C. Lowe (Lena) of Lancaster, TX, Kevin D. Bell of Norwalk, CA, Andre L. Bell (Shasta) of Los Angeles, CA and a special friend Wally Pascual of California, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
