Gerald Roland Jackson

May 2, 1946 — February 23, 2025

Gerald Roland Jackson was born on May 2, 1946 at 5:30 PM to Lloyd Coleman Jackson and Bonnie Jane Jackson at Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was the third of nine children, a challenging and lovable child who enjoyed tractors and tinkering. He graduated from Villisca High in 1964. With a draft threatening every boy of age at that time he chose to enlist in the U.S. Navy on July 17, 1964 and was sent to the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, California. During his time of service, he received a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. He reached the rank of Boilerman Petty Officer 2nd class and was honorably discharged on May 28, 1968. With his training as a Boilerman he began his career as a civilian in the great state of California. Eventually, he found his way to Las Vegas, Nevada continuing to use his training to have a fruitful and successful career, retiring from LMS Building Systems after 27 years of service. He was most proud of his work with St. Rose Hospitals (Dignity Health), where the work was fulfilling and he felt that he was helping others.

Known by Jerry or “JJ”, he was a son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, soon to be great grandfather and a treasured friend. Jerry was a billiards player, music lover, gun enthusiast, Corvette officianado, fixer of all things, fan of NASCAR and the Kansas City Chiefs, lover of the Farm Channel and an Alice Chalmers devotee. He was a loving husband, a doting grandfather and a steadfast and honorable father/stepfather to four very different from each other children. His eyes lit up at the sight of his grandchildren, a grandson and two granddaughters. He was eagerly awaiting the blessing of his first great grandchild. Gerald Jackson was as tough as they come, but had a softness for the things and people that he loved. He is now free, restored to health and planning the biggest tractor run, one we who are left behind, can only dream of.

Proceeding him in death are his parents, Lloyd and Bonnie Nance Jackson, sister Sharon Jackson-Vianelli, brother Michael Jackson, brothers-in-law James Dake and Seymour Gray. Nephews James Sunderman, Colby Mann and Dustin Michael Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Susan Fowler-Jackson, mother-in-law Marian Hill, brother-in-law Martin Dalton, children Steven Jackson, Regina Scheer, Holly Baldwin, Heidi Blevins and son-in-law Chad Baldwin. Grandchildren Michael Scheer(Susana), Ivy Baldwin, Quinn Blevins, and his great grandchild on the way. Siblings Janice (Donald) Willet, Eugene Vianelli, Connie Dake, Bonnie Gray, Donald (Phyllis) Jackson, Randy (Peg) Jackson, Merrie Jackson, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. He was loved and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
