Glenn Allen Page

Glenn A. Page was taken to Heaven in the arms of the Angels on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Glenn was born on May 9, 1932 in Hamlet, North Carolina, where he spent his entire childhood. He was a great son to Momma Grace and Pappy and a great brother to older siblings, Nancy Pait (Richard), Russell Page (Audrey), Janice Keziah (James "Hezzie"), Asa "Pete" Page, Jr. (Jeanette) and William "Bill" Page, and to the younger ones, Charles Robert "Bobby" Page (Judy) and Lonnie Lewis Page (Bonnie)! He never lost his genuine Southern Charm nor his great Southern Manners, nor his quick wit and dry sense of humor!
As a young man, barely out of high school, he enlisted in the Air Force. After his military training and before serving in the Korean War, he was transferred to Nellis Air Force Base, just northeast of a little town called Las Vegas, Nevada. While there, he met the girl who would become his wife, Theresa Anna Cornell, at the little shoe repair shop on Fremont Street where she grew up, along with her six older siblings. Glenn and Theresa were married on June 23, 1953 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and they remained together for the next 55 years until her passing on August 15, 2008. Together they raised 5 children, Glenn A. Page, Jr. (Pam), Rita Page Reid (Bill), Robert "Bobby" Page (Sheri), and two Precious Daughters who traveled the path to Heaven before him, Rose Marie "Rosie" Page and Theresa Grace Ware (Gregory). Glenn loved his step-daughter, Dawn Iler Brown (Kevin), and was loved and comforted by her in his later years. Theresa and Glenn were blessed along the way with Wonderful Grandchildren, whom He Treasured, Greg Ozuna (Christina), Anthony Ozuna (Amy), Casey Reid, Melanie Reid O'Keeffe (Graham), Carey Kaplan, Monika Page Havens (Sean), Tiffany Berner Richardson (Shelby), Matthew Ware (Briana), Sarah Ware Lower (Andrew), Melissa Page Kelley, Nina Berner Kane (Conor), Emily Ware Robinson (Richard), Rachel Ware Stephensen (Scott), Aaron Page, Carissa Berner McCloskey (Owen); and over 20 Great Grandchildren whom he Adored - Gabrielle Ozuna, Ashlen & Rylen Reid; Sean Jr., Kyra, Krew, Karis and Kamrie Havens; Bailey Burdette & Phillip Lower; Charlotte, Audrey and Everett Ware; Evie & Isla Ozuna; Daniel Stephensen; Ricky Robinson; Kaydence, Hunter & Chloe Richardson; Colin Kane and counting!
Although his greatest job ever was being a parent, he did have several other jobs along the way. He worked a short time for the Las Vegas Police Dept., the phone company, and the Nevada Test Site, among others. But, where he is remembered most would surely be as a casino cashier at the original Desert Inn, Caesar's Palace, and later at Binion's Horseshoe Club Downtown. He was affectionately known as "Page in the Cage"!
Glenn always led by example and hardly ever missed any family event . . . especially ballgames! He could fix anything and always did for his family, friends, neighbors, several churches and schools, and any stranded motorist along the way. He was the first to admit he was not a perfect man who had times of remorse, but he worked diligently to Always Do Better When He Knew Better and he helped so many of us become better, too! He spent his whole life helping others and so we all know his reward will be Heavenly! He Was and Always Will Be A Champion!
He Adored Family and was Blessed with Family from his "North Carolina" roots to his "Nevada" home, including Nieces and Nephews whom he loved dearly and greatly, and they loved him dearly in return - Richard (Gerda), Russell (Julia) and Robbie (Toni) Pait and Carol Pait Christenbury (Max); Anne Page; Tommy Keziah (Glenda), Jan Keziah Ketner (Mark); Asa Page III (Karen), Donna Page Brindel (Glenn); Keith and Billy Page; Debi Page Michael (Reggie), Patti Page Allen (Ronnie), Charles "Chuck" Page (Renee), Toni Horridge (Ray); Linda, Karen, Betsy Page Cadle (John), Katherine "Kathy" Page, Ginger Page; Steve Burke (Monet), Mary Burke Rodgers (Jay) , Mike Burke (Dina), Tom Burke (Kathy), Ed Burke (Mary); D.J. Glenn's heart embraced his numerous cousins and friends throughout his life. He treasured us each and all and we were each "His Favorite"!
We give thanks today to and for his entire "Family" who have surrounded him with Love and Honor throughout his Life. We thank all of his Wonderful Friends who brought him joy and laughter and good times, and we thank those at Acacia Springs Assisted Living for all the love and kindness they gave him during his last 10 years on Earth! We give thanks to and for the Veterans Health Care System, the specialty clinics, the great doctors, nurses and hospital staff for caring and for keeping him on the go and blessing our lives with his presence, his love and great humor for all of these years. We extend a final Thank You to the State of Nevada Veterans Home, Bunker Brother's Funeral Home, the Veterans Memorial Cemetery and the Air Force Honor Guard for caring for him, laying him to rest with dignity and respect and for honoring this man who served his Country Proudly, Loved His Family and Friends Unconditionally, and Served the Lord Fiercely.
He had ups and downs, challenges and successes, but, when it came to being surrounded by people he loved, he had a Wonderful Life!
Due to the risks of gathering together as a group during the Covid-19 pandemic, a funeral service will not be held at this time. Please do not be disheartened; Dad knows he was and is cherished and that nothing will stop the outpouring of prayers and love for him - not even a pandemic. In his journey through good times and bad, Dad would look at the world around him, sometimes in peace and sometimes in chaos, and he would try to put things in perspective for himself and for others. In his genuinely sincere and easy-going style, sometimes with a twinkle in his eye, he would look to Heaven and say, "Aren't these Exciting Times We're Living In!" If we stop for a moment and listen, perhaps we'll hear him saying that to us today. Yes, Dad, these are "exciting" times. Maybe just a little too "exciting", but, when we realize we cannot get around it or through it or under it on our own, perhaps we should also look up to Heaven and be reminded that God is with us and watching us, and just maybe this is our time to follow Dad's life-long example of giving and caring for others. There is enough suffering. Let us bring healing. There is sorrow. Let us bring joy - maybe some of Dad's jokes! There is emptiness. Let us bring fulfillment. There is fear. Let us bring courage. Sometimes making a difference starts with the slightest of movements - a first step or simple act. Dad would do that. He would put his natural human apprehensions for himself aside and he would just see the other person. He would take the risk and simply speak - he would speak kind words from his heart! He would recite a poem! He would give them a Hug - the greatest hugs! (Not an Option in a Pandemic, but a virtual "hug" is good, too!) He would even sing a song -- just for them! He gave from his heart. He touched hearts. He healed hearts.
In Lieu of Flowers here is what we believe Glenn, Dad, WGGGD, Granddad, Dop, Uncle Glenn, "Page" would want. He would want flowers sent or delivered, but not to him, not for him. He would want you to do what He Always Loved Doing - Give Flowers and Special Gifts, like chocolates or Freed's cookies, to that Special Someone In Your Life or Someone Who Needs Uplifting and Sincerely Tell That Special Someone They Are The Most Beautiful or The Most Handsome and They are Your Favorite in the Entire World!
