Helen Cordell Nee Smith
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Helen Cordell (Nee Smith), our loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on December 10th, 2019.
She left us suddenly when she lost the cancer battle she was fighting. She was in her 73rd year.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Lawrence V. Smith and Sophie M. Smith (Kutarnia). She lead a blessed childhood as the youngest of 6 children. She moved to her 'favorite fun' city of Las Vegas in 1990 where she made many new life long friends.
She was the beloved mother of Hollie and Dawn Cordell, Godmother to Kathy August (Zagorski) and proud grandmother of Sara.
Helen is sadly missed by her loving sisters, Florence Smith and Valeria (Charles) Zagorski, and brothers John (Mary) Smith, Ambrose Smith and Charlie (Julie) Smith.
She will be forever remembered by her nephew Charles (Chuckie) Zagorski and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Helen lived a full life and loved to go bowling, play golf and enjoy the afternoon with her "lady friends" playing Bingo. She often took her grandchild, Sara, to the movies and to play mini-golf, they spent a lot of time together.
She kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with her hands for crafting and fixing things and enjoyed her family when they came to visit.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
