Helen Holt

The grand matriarch and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of the Holt family passed away peacefully.
Helen was born in her parent's home on S.Ninth Street.
She was always proud to be a native Las Vegan and raised four generations of native Nevadans. Helen lived in Las Vegas most of her life, with one year in New Hampshire and several in Goodsprings, where her father, Frank williams was a miner and served in the Nevada State Legislature and on the Board of Regentsfor UNR, and her mother, Edith was a school teacher. She also lived in Sandy Valley for a time.
Helen graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1937, starting a tradition of many generations of graduating Las Vegas Wildcats. She also followed her husband to Georgia and Ohio as he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
She married Vaughan O. Holt, July 13,1940 in the First Ward Chapel on Ninth and Clark. They were sealed in the St. George Temple. They built a home at 711 South 8th St. where they lived for 57 years, until the time of Vaughan's death in 1998.
Helen was an excellent secretary and homemaker extraordinaire. She served in many volunteer capacities throughout her life including the LDS Social Services, Relief Society president and Stake Relief Society, secretary. She devoted her life to her family and her church, serving as an outstanding example of kindness and grace to all who knew her. She was a member of the Las Vegas Orchid Society, The Earth, Wind and Fire Toastmasters Club, the Gold Gliders Square Dance Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mesquite Club and the "Los Comaderos" Study Group, which met twice a month for 50 years.
She now joins her husband and eternal companion, Vaughan, along with her beloved grandsons, Joseph C. Reese and Ralph D. Reese.
She is survived by her four devoted children and their spouses, Edith Paige Reese(Dennis) of Logandale, Barry Vaughan Holt(Kathryn) of Las Vegas, Leanne Hold Ferdig(LaMar) of Las Vegas and Russell D. Holt(Loralei) of Bountiful, Utah; 21 loving grand-children; and 27 precious great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge Bunkers Mortuary, The Cottages of Green Valley, Nathan Adelson Hospice, the First Ward Bishopric, The Sunset Ward Priesthood and the Orchard Valley Ward Relief Society, for their loving and compassionate service to our mother.
A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 29th at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 30th at the 8th and Franklin LDS Chapel with a viewing starting at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at Paradise Valley Cemetery, 6500 South Eastern.
