"Hank" Henry D. Miller, passed away peacefully in his sleep,September 22,2006 in Life Care Center of Las Vegas where he had resided for the last tow and one half years.
He was born on November 15,19254 in St. Louis.
In 1942, he joined the 82nd airborne Paratroopers at Fort Benning, GA. He saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, Anzio and Casino Italy, where he was captured and spent two years in a German POW camp. He was awarded the Purple Heart and numerous accommodations while recuperating at a Veterans Hospital in Arizona.
Hank was a devout motorsports participant and fan.Hank worked at the Fremont Hotel for 27 years as an engineer and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 501.
Hank moved to Las Vegas in 1949 and married Elenore "Ellie" Spence who preceded his death in 1984.
Hank is survived by his loving sister, Marie Kozak; brother, Norman Miller, nephew, Bruce Bartlett; nieces, Sandy Sanddler, Kathy Kozak and Debbie Bartlett; dear friends, Dave Saddler, Mike and Pam Balconi, Gene Stickney, Ernie and Ava; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Veterans Administrations, VFW, the staff of Life Care Center who made Hank's last days more comfortable.
Viewing will be held on Monday, October 2nd,2006 from 5-7 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 3,2006 at 10:00 a.m. at
Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery
