Homer Lavern Powell Jr., 78, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed peacefully into Heaven Dec. 6, 2016, after a two-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born March 25, 1938, in Scobey, Mont., to Homer and Lavina Powell. Homer joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956 which landed him at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, where he met and married his sweetheart, Maridee. Together, they raised three children and ran a successful family business, 10th Street Automotive, for over 40 years until retiring in 2013. He was well-regarded in our community as an honest businessman, true friend and loving husband and father. Homer is survived by his wife, Maridee; sons, Ronald (Tamara) and David; daughter, Debra; one granddaughter; and two brothers. Burial was private. He will be forever loved and dearly missed.
