James D. Chivers, 81, died peacefully at home. He was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, he was a 56 year resident of Las Vegas. James proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and continued his support of the military through the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753 as post commander, then state commander and national officers. A long time fixture in the insurance industry of Las Vegas, he culminated his career by serving and retiring from the state of Nevada as chief deputy insurance commissioner (southern region).
James was preceded in death and will be reuniting with his loving wife, Dorothy(2001); and son John ( 1970).
He is survived by sons, James A. and Craig R. Chivers; caregiver, daughter-in-law and angel, Carolyn Chivers; granddaughters, Melissa Chivers of Port Angeles, Washington and Jamies Chivers of Las Vegas; sister, Stella Harris of Rexburg, Idaho; and brother, Robert Chivers of Boise, Idaho.
Vistation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27th,2006
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28th, both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
