James was the Owner/Operator of Pogos Tavern and Lakes Lounge. When Jim arrived in Las Vegas, he worked for several casinos, then was employed at the Nevada Test Site. Jim them became owner of Pogos Tavern, know for Dixieland Jazz night and also was the owner of the Lakes Lounges. He was a top basketball official of Southern Nevada for 40 years and known for his theatrical calls on the court. He was inducted into the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Hall of Fame in 1997. Jim was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; children-Terry Johnston of Carson City, NV,Jaime Holcombe and Mary Palakovich both of Las Vegas and six grandchildren
