James Louis Minor

James Louis Minor was born May 26, 1937, in Kilgore, Texas to parents Robert and Julia Minor. James (known as Jim to many) was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was proceeded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
James graduated from ARP Industrial School in 1954. On May 4, 1955 he enlisted in the Army where he served in the Korean War. He Received an honorable discharge on April 25, 1957. James married Billie Faye Davis in Dallas, Texas; the family included four children: Gayland, Rodney Eugene, Starlette Yvette and Djuana Lashuan. Billie Faye and Gayland proceded him in death.
In 1968, James came to Los Angeles, California where he attended Windsor Law School and worked as an insurance broker. He met Delores Haynes and they were married May 1, 1982. With combined families, they had 5 boys and 3 girls. After retirement they moved to Berlin, Germany with their grandson Victor for 6 months where Jim was doing his craft, selling insurance.
Returning to the U.S., another move was made to Las Vegas, Nevada in July 2004. During this time his eye-sight became worse. He attended the Blind Center of Nevada where he became interested in a pottery class and the Glee Chorus with whom he traveled to many places. Jim made some amazing pieces of pottery which he delighted in giving to his family and friends.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Delores Haynes-Minor, and his children; Rodney Eugene, Starlett Yvette, Djuana Lashuan, Michael, Elvis and Victoria. Among his host of nieces and nephews, Willie H. "June", Billy Roy, Larry and Kevin were very special to him. There are also many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives, too numerous to name.
