Janalee Yvette Richards, 63, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, NV was called to the Lord on January 1, 2025 in the comfort of her home.
She was born July 30, 1961 in East Moline, Illinois, and graduated from Township High School. After going to college one year, Janalee moved to Las Vegas where she worked and retired from the Mirage after 30 years. Shortly thereafter, Janalee was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the end of 2015, only to determine later it was dementia. Upon her diagnosis, her spouse and life-partner of 34 years, Michael, retired and dedicated his time to caring for Janalee until her last moments.
After Janalee’s diagnosis, Michael became heavily involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and the local news Channel 8 highlighted their journey and love story.
Janalee loved the Lord and was passionate about teaching the children at Sunday school. She loved watching movies; anything Tyler Perry or BET, dancing, the inside of Dell Taco Burritos (with extra ketchup), Wendys, McRibs, BBQ sauce on everything, endless candy that she’d hide for herself, her daily Pepsi/Dr Pepper mix, making baskets for every holiday, and of course, her children and grandchildren who were her world.
Janalee was preceded in death by her Mother Gloria (Ray) Binford, Father Harlee Miller Sr., Dad Vincent Hill, Brother Terry Hill, Sister Ronda Hill, Brother in Laws Herman Richards Jr & George Gaines, and nephew Justin Richards.
Janalee is survived by her husband and dedicated caregiver Michael; two children, Ramon & Krystian; grandchildren, Khloie, Gage, Haley, Layla, McKenna. Her siblings, DeMoris and Harlee Jr. (Latrice); Sister in laws, Earlena, Sonji (Mark), Rachel; Brother in Laws, Cedric (Sherry), Julius and Bobby; and all nieces, nephews and extended family.
Janalee was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
We want to give a special Thank You to the Alzheimer’s Association for their continuous commitment and dedication to our family and community and to Channel 8 news for highlighting our story.
