Ms. Jean O’Neal King was born to the parents of David and Adell O’Neal on March 26, 1948, In Greenville, North Carolina. She attended South Ayden High School in North Carolina.
In 1966 she would meet and marry the love of her life John King and would have a marriage of 57 years. From that union would have two daughters Angela and Sabrena King.
In 1972 the family would make their home in Las Vegas, NV. After having lived in Alaska. She worked in the health care industry for 30 plus years as a unit secretary. For hospitals such as Lake Mead Hospital, Valley Hospital and University Medical Center. She will be memorable for her straight to the point personality and generosity. She was always a fighter, having been a two- time breast cancer survivor.
She is a former member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Trustee member. She felt her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife and mother and being a member of Greater Carver Missionary Baptist Church and serving as the Mission Department President. She had a passion for feeding, clothing and witnessing to God’s people. She especially loved small children and helping anyone in need. She would always tell the Mission members we work good together as a team. Her motto was “I have no ego”; we’re in this ministry together. Most importantly she loved her church family. She always kept her hope and faith in the Lord.
Her favorite pastime was watching the Hallmark Channel during the Christmas season. Her favorite one was The Christmas Card.
In the early morning of March 2, 2025, the Lord saw his servant’s suffering and called His Angel home.
She is survived by her loving husband John King, and two daughters Angela King and Sabrena King, 4 brothers, David O'Neal of Greenville, NC, James O'Neal (Debora) of Charles County, MD and Michael O'Neal (Carmellia) of Greenville NC; Proceeded in death Willie O’Neal. 6 sisters, Della Boyd of Greenville, NC, Shirley Gay of New Haven, CT, and Amy Allen (Dan) of Winterville, NC; proceeded in death 3 sisters Mammie Ruth Alston, Annie Lee Haddock, and Helen Joyce Murphy. And a host of beautiful nieces and nephews.
