Joan Winifred Tansey

Joan W. Tansey was born in Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, New York on September 23, 1936 and died on November 09, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Joan was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, Long Island, New York for 20 years.   On March 01, 1970 she was hired by the Clark County School District to teach 6th grade at Kit Carson School.  She then worked as a vocational counselor for the CETA Program.

In 1977 she became Dean of Students at Western High School.  Joan went on to serve as an assistant principal at Kermit Booker, CVT Gilbert, Marian Cahlan and Lois Craig.  She held the following principalships:  Joe Mackey, George Harris and Spring Mountain Youth Camp.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Winifred, her brothers; Bernard and Kenneth; her sister, Betty Darcy and friend of 51 years; Father Thomas E. Gallenbach.  She is survived by her brother, Robert, nephew Robert and his wife Cynthia, nephew Kenneth Tansey, Jr., niece Diane Tansey, niece Joan Tansey, niece Kathleen Tansey.  She is great aunt to Erin, Christine, Kelly Anne and great great aunt to Everett, James and Hugh Broten.

Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 10:00am.  Rosary will be at 9:30am in the Church.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road (at Tenaya).
