Jorge Fernandez

Jorge Rodriguez Fernandez, born on February 20, 1933, in San Vicente, Baja California Norte, Mexico went home on January 31, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a brief battle with cancer.  He was and always will be the beloved son of Ramon and Virginia.

Jorge, was a much loved husband, a great father to his three children, and was lovingly admired as a great man and human being.  All that knew him would say that he would gladly give you the shirt off his back, drop everything to help and was a shining light for all to see.  His work ethic was to be admired and he provided a comfortable life for his family that he did not always have himself.  His laugh would fill a room and his quiet strength gave the assurance that you were under his protection and care.

He loved his wife faithfully for the entirety of their 62 years of matrimony and he was the love of her life.  He guided his children through good and bad and although he was a man of few words there was never any doubt that he was beside you and ready to face any challenge with humility and kindness.  You could see the humanity in his eyes and you knew that he was one of god’s chosen ones.  We are all better people for having known him in this life.

Jorge is survived by his wife, Maria del Carmen Fernandez Sarabia, his children Maria (Carmelita) Atkinson Fernandez, George R. Fernandez, Frankie Fernandez, their spouses Ted Atkinson and Staci Dahl and Arielle, Cole and Madison his loving grandchildren.  He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces that loved him and thought of him as a mentor and friend.  He is preceded in his journey home by his eleven brothers and sisters who he missed dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service to remember and honor a life well lived will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00am at Bunkers/Eden Vale Mortuary, at 925 Las Vegas Boulevard in North Las Vegas.

Although he is no longer with us his loving warmth, smile and bright soul will be our comfort during this moment of difficulty.

Que descanses en paz, todos te vamos extrañar muchisimo y siempre te vamos a recordar con mucho cariño y amor.  Hasta que nos veamos otra vez adios…
