Josefina Elsie Poma De Mejia

Josefina E. Poma De Mejia, 63, a longtime resident of Las Vegas passed away Sunday February 2, 2020. Beloved wife of Oswaldo Mejia Vasquez for 43 years. Loving mother of Nancy Mejia-Hines and Ana Maria Mejia and adored grandmother of Andrew Hines. Sister of Carmen, Rolando, Flora, Valeriano, Ruben, Jorge, and Gloria Poma. Although Josefina born in Lima-Peru, she loved her dear Las Vegas more than any native, she was an avid for exploring new sites in Nevada with the family. She was a longtime member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, where she was active at the Church, by caring for the small children. Josefina was a substitute teacher in her late twenties. Later, she went back to school and became a nurse assistant, a profession she loved deeply. Josefina leaves a legacy of hard work, perseverance, discipline and love to the family. Her friends highlight the beautiful moments spent with Josefina sharing laughs, family stories and daily events, she always found the joy of the little things in life, especially when working at her garden.

Visitation and Vigil will be held on Tuesday February 11th from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints on 9270 S. Maryland Parkway Las Vegas, NV 89123. Funeral prayer at 12:30 PM at Davis Memorial Park on 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89119.
