Prominent Las Vegas businessman, Kermit Moe, died Friday, January 30,2004 while in the care of home hospice. Born March 8,1915 in Richmond, California. He was the son of Norwegian immigrants. Kermit graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with an accounting degree, and was also a member of the University tumbling team. He came to Las Vegas in 1944 and founded Las Vegas' first major accounting firm with his partner, Nelson Conway. The firm became knows as Conway,Moe & Hibbs until it merged in 1966 with the national accounting firm of Main Lafrentz & Co. Kermit served on the Nevada State Board of Accountants for a number of hears. He was also founding member of the Paradise Valley Country Club, now know as Wild Horse Golf Course in Green Valley
In 1946, he married Olga Silvagni, daughter of local hotel builder, P.O. Silvagni and fathered twin sons, Timothy and Gregory. Kermit's second marriage was to Las Vegas resident, Dorian Wirkkala in 1964. Upon his retirement in 1978, the couple moved to Hawaii and returned to Las Vegas in 1995 to live out their lives.
Survivors include his wife, Dirian:son Gregory who now residesn in Dallas/FortWorth: and Grandchildren, Heather, Morgan, brian and Michelle. Kermit was predeceased by his first wife, Olga and son Timothy. At Kermit's request, his body was cremated with no services.
