Guzman, Lazara. December 17, 1945—July 18, 2019. Born in Havana, Cuba.
Preceded in death by her parents, Wilfredo and Caridad Fernandez; by her husband Fidel Manuel Guzman; and by her brothers Wilfredo, Manuel, and Nelson Fernandez. She was a loving sister to Xiomara Mateos, and Candy Morelli; a beloved mother her daughters Mercy Guzman and Ann Morejon; and an adoring grandmother to Jovani and Tati Guzman and Jilian and Jorden Morejon.
Guzman was a woman of great strength and a light to all of those around her. She had multiple sclerosis for over 40 years, and although her health continuously deteriorated, her happiness and spirit only grew overtime.
She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She loved Oreo cookies, playing bingo, talking to everyone she met, and telling crazy stories.
But most of all she loved life.
Even though she had much to be unhappy about, she always wore a smile on her face.
Her humor and wit will be missed. Her readiness to love others, her fun personality, and her cheerful demeanor. She was and is an angel.
As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and give thanks for her place in our lives.
Rest in peace, Lazara. We love you.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
