Leonard Thompson

October 25, 1924 — September 23, 2004

Leonard was born in Estherville, Iowa and has resided in Las Vegas for 11 years.  Leonard servied in the American Theatre during World War II while his three older brothers were serving overseas.  He served his duty in Las Vegas from 1943-1946 as a Flight Engineer.He was a lifetime member of the Benovolent and Protective Order of Elks and awarded Office of the Year in 2001-2002 for the North Las Vegas Lodge.  He was very active in the Leadership and activities of the group and recently served as the Esteemed Lecturing Knight.  He was especially proud of his many friendships and community contributions through his long-standing association with the Elks.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Lu Elmo Thompson.  He is survived by his dear wife, Jeannette Thompson; loving son, Ralph X Thompson and wife, Kathleen; his sister, Arlene Simon and husband, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and a host of family and friend all who loved his quick wit and bright smile.  He always had a twinkle in his blue eyes, a light dance step in his walk and a mischievous comment to get you to smile.
