March 25, 1933 — July 29, 2020

Lucy Ann Barker, 87, went to be with the Lord on July 29,2020 at Del Mar Gardens, Henderson, Nevada.

Lucy (also known as Elvie to her sisters and brothers) was born March 25, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Benjamin James Rook and Fannie Norman Whitfield. She lived in Hawaii, California and South Carolina during military years: then Arkansas for many years before moving to Las Vegas to retire.

She was a loving, patient wife and mother. Lucy was a Baptist her entire life; an active member at East Union MBC of East End, AR and then Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, AR., enjoying teaching and singing in the choir. She had a special love for quartet music. She and her husband, Larry, traveled a couple summers with a youth mission group, Collegiate Crusade for Christ.

Lucy loved to travel, go camping, and gardening especially all kinds of flowers.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Larry; children Larry Hodge (preceded in death, Teresa), Karen Young (Danny), Johnny Barker (Rhonda) and Glenn Barker (Stephanie). She also leaves 6 grandchildren Diana Hodge Baker, John Michael Barker, Dawn Michelle Adams, Brent, Clint and Mark Young; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents B.J. Rook and Fannie Norman Whitfield Rook, her sisters Ila Stanley, Naomi Maher, Ruth Witkowski,; and brothers Clarence Whitfield and Miles Rook.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Del Mar Gardens who cared for 'Miss Lucy' (and other endearing names!)
