Melvin Lorenzo Walker was born on June 26, 1955 in Tallulah, Louisiana to Dorothy Mae Walker and Ozie B. Melvin confessed Christ at an early age under the late Rev. Jesse Henderson, at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Melvin graduated from Ruben McCall Senior High School in 1973.
In 1977, Melvin moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and united with Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership on the late Reverend Nathaniel Whitney, where he remained under the leadership of Dr. Welton T. Smith III until God called him home.
In 1977, he began work at the Silver Slipper Hotel & Casino. He joined St. Marks Grand Lodge Queen Esther Chapter in that same year under the leadership of Grand Master Eldridge Clark and Wishful Master Reverend Arthur Lee Harris.
Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Mae Love, his sister, Juanita Walker, his grandmother, Georgia Moore and his very special aunt, Loretha Kindrick. He leaves to cherish his memory, two nieces Aisha Walker and Michel’le Bell, a nephew Tyler Johnson, brothers Isaac Anderson and Leonard Davis, and a special friend, Shirley Ledet, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
