Ruby C Culbreath

February 5, 1920 — May 11, 2003

A service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Coffey-Murray Funeral Chapel for Ruby Christine Ballard Culbreath, 83, who died on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was born February 5, 1920, in Winnsboro, Franklin County, Texas to  William Henry Ballard and Lola Belle Amos Ballard Crossland.  She married Russell Charles Culbreath on May 21, 1939, in Caney, Oklahoma.

She worked for the government as a cook at the Theodore Roosevelt Indian School for 10 years in Ft. Apache, Arizona.  Then a cook at the Mohave General Hospital in Kingman, Arizona until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Joseph Luke Crossland, Sr. and her husband; daughter Glenda Gayle Culbreath Maraman; son Everett Russell Culbreath; brothers John Dee Ballard, Eugene Ballard, Pat Crossland, Herbert Crossland; sisters Lucille (infant) Ballard, Connie Mae Ballard,  Juanita Ballard Gatton and Vera Crossland Jackson.

She is survived by daughters Shirley Jean Culbreath, Murrieta, California and Lola Annette Culbreath, Las Vegas, Nevada.  Son and Daughter-in-Law Frank Wiley Maraman and Christine Maraman, Robertsdale, Alabama; brothers William Henry (Bill) Ballard, Jackson, Georgia, Joseph L. Crossland, Atlanta, Georgia, and J.B. Crossland, Stockton, California; granddaughters Pamala Joy Maraman, Robertsdale, Alabama, Lachelle Renee Brown Marshall and husband Jeffrey, Joplin, Missouri, Kathryn Elizabeth Culbreath, Las Vegas, Nevada;  grandsons Jason Elliott Culbreath, Las Vegas, Nevada, David Maraman and wife Ellen, Robertsdale, Al; great-granddaughter Cara Jeanette Marshall, Joplin, MO; Great-grandsons Keith Probst serving in the US Coast Guard, Steven Probst, Robertsdale, AL, Harrison Jeffrey Marshall, Joplin, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews to great to mention.

She was a very special friend, sister, wife and mother.  As our precious mother passed away bringing sorrow on Mother's Day,we felt the time was near as her life was ending here.  While here, she showed us many things, of joy that Christian service brings.  We'll cherish all the days we've spent,down here beside our mother, She's just a jewel Heaven sent, There'll never be another.

We will miss you Mom.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Caddo.
