Steve Madosik, Jr.

March 23, 1920 — May 2, 2004

Steve Madosik Jr., 84 passed away peacefully at home in Las Vegas, NV on May 2, 2004.  He was born March 23, 1920 in Duncan Wood, Ohio.  The third and last child of Hungarian Immigrant parents, Mr. Madosik was raised on a rural farming homestead in the eastern coal mining region of Ohio and moved to Washington, DC after completing his High School education.

Mr. Madosik served in the Navy during WWII.  After his discharge from the service, he began his career work as a Cartographer for the Naval Oceanographic office in Suitland, MD.  In 1960 he received recognition and award for his participation in the Navy's Polaris Submarine Project.  He retired in July of 1974 after 30 years of Government Service.

Mr. Madosik met and married his wife and soul mate, Norma E. Kirby, shortly after his relocation to Washington, DC.  Together they raised a family of four children, while residing in Washington and the Suburban Maryland town of District Heights.  They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1992 and were married a total of 52 years.

After his retirement, Mr. Madosik relocated with his family in Las Vegas.  They bought, lived in and worked a small motel as a family business for several years.  After selling the motel, they bought a home where he remained until his passing.  He and his wife were fond of Bingo and became frequent visitors to the Gold Coast Casino where they socialized and had many friends.

Mr. Madosik was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, in l994.  He is survived by his children: Steve Madosik III of Carriere, MS.,  Lawrence R. Madosik of Anchorage, Alaska , Mary Y. Hamman of Las Vegas, NV and Mark B. Madosik of Pahrump, NV.;
Thirteen Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Alzheimer's Research.
