Tommie James Childress was born to the union of Tom Childress and Gladys Dean Phillips on July 11, 1949 in Hermitage, Arkansas. During his childhood, his family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. Tommie attended Clark High School and went on to work at Centel Phone Company, where he worked until the age of retirement.
Throughout his walk of life Tommie founded, believed in and loved Christ. Tommie’s joyous attitude made him the life and soul of all social events. Tommie was very loving and would give his last to any and every one. He would do everything in his power to accommodate others, whether he knew them or not. Tommie was a very peaceful man and loved bringing laughter and smiles to everyone he encountered. He had a harmonious and bubbly personality. Tommie would have been considered a true comedian at heart, who would do anything to life a person’s spirit.
His father Tom Childress and mother Gladys Childress both preceded Tommie in his death.
Tommie leaves to cherish his memory; the love of his life, spouse Leola Childress; two songs- Michael Childress and Tommy Childress Jr. both of Las Vegas; two daughters- Keisha Moreland of Las Vegas and Sherita Angoy of San Antonio. His legacy continues with 9 grandchildren- Michael Childress Jr., Olivia Childress and Isaiah Childress, all of Las Vegas. Noah Childress of Sacramento, Ca. Sharonda Lash Childress of Florida, Calvin Angoy and Anecia Angoy of Irvington, NJ and Kalandra Muhammad and Ka’Sandra Muhammad of San Antonio, TX and 2 great grandchildren; Mia Manious and Shinese McKinnon of Florida. Mother in Law Ethal R. Davis, Sister in Law LaNett Davis, Teresa Jackson, Demetrice K. Randolph, Patricia Harris (Terrence), Angela Richardson (Charles) all of Las Vegas and Jerrie Lynn of Ferde, Louisiana. Brother in Law Ulysas Davis, Damon Davis, and nephew Eric D. Randolph all of Las Vegas.
