William Calvin Harvey

William C. Harvey, age 92, passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2018 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bill was survived by his son Dr. William F Harvey (Jane) of Las Vegas, and his daughter, Alice Harvey Raymond (Gary) of Wellington, NV. He has 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Harvey Warnick, Alyssa Harvey Cejka, Billy Harvey, Gary K Raymond Jr and Rebecca Raymond. He also has 13 great grandchildren, all of Las Vegas. Bill is proceeded in death by his wife Nora Ann; his parents Alice Vinette Grano and Truman Harvey; sister, Patsy Draper, brothers Truman and James Harvey.

Bill was born on October 22nd, 1926 in Milford, Utah. He graduated from Lincoln County high school in Panaca and attended Washington State University before enlisting in the army during World War II. After service he moved to Las Vegas in 1947 where he met the love of his life, Nora Ann Gerson. Bill and Nora Ann celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 19th this year before Nora Ann passes away in June.

Bill was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters union local 525 where he was instrumental in developing and implementing the retirement plan for Union Local 525. Bill began working at the Nevada Test Site in 1952. He worked in many capacities for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 525. Retiring in 1988 from REECO, in Nuclear Energy at the Nevada Test Site as Superintendent of the Piping Trade.

Bill loved golfing, hunting, fishing and UNLV Rebel Basketball. All these things he approached with great enthusiasm. No one made more trips up and down the stairs at the Thomas and Mack during the excitement of a game – he couldn’t sit still. His friends and family will always remember him as a guy who did it his way!

A funeral will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Monte Cristo Chapel, 1801 S Monte Cristo Way, Las Vegas NV 89117. A viewing will be held at the same location prior to the funeral at 10:00- 10:45 am. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service at Bunkers Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
