Jovante Woods Fairways Fore Airways Celebrity Golf Tournament

Dragon Ridge Country Club, Henderson, Nevada

April 15-17th, 2023

Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park FSC’s Martha Gonzalez and Lora Evans participated in a three-day event supporting the Jovante Woods Foundation, started by former Cincinnati Bengals fullback Ickey Woods. The Fairways Fore Airways Celebrity Golf Tournament included a Family Asthma Awareness Day, a team draft party, and the golf tournament, with all proceeds going to the Foundation.

FSC Lora Evans said, “While it was fun spending the day golfing with NFL, NBA, and MLB legends, the highlight of the weekend happened at the conclusion of the Family Awareness Day. The nurse conducting the free pulmonary testing reported to Ickey that six children’s lives were saved that day through testing. Six families were able to take the testing printouts to their children’s pediatricians to get them started on life-saving treatment and medication. Knowing that our community event impacted these families in such a profound way makes all of the hard work worth it”.

Martha Gonzalez and Lora Evans are both active in various community organizations and find great fulfillment in helping those in our local community.

Hosting the Trauma Intervention Program

Bunker’s Funeral Homes & Cemeteries was so honored to have hosted the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Southern Nevada monthly continuing education class last night.

The volunteers were given a tour of the mortuary and Larry Davis, Managing Partner of Bunker’s Mortuaries and Cemeteries led a question and answer session.

There were many comments afterwards on how much they learned and how helpful the session was.

We were also thrilled to celebrate Jill, the CEO of TIP on her 15th anniversary!

Surprising Students at Robert Taylor Elementary School

Lora Evans, a Family Service Counselor at Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park, is an active Rotarian and loves giving back to the community. On December 13th, Lora and her club members from Rotary Club of Green Valley surprised every student at Robert Taylor Elementary School with Christmas gifts, books, and ice cream at a special event. Santa was on hand to pass out gifts, and Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero, Councilman Jim Seebock, and Councilwoman Carrie Cox were there to celebrate with the students.

Lora said of the event, “The kids were very excited to receive their gift bags and to be able to pick out toys for themselves. We all got lots of hugs from the kids, and really that’s all that matters. It was a very special morning being able to spread some holiday joy and give back to the community.”

Robert L. Taylor Elementary School is a public school in Henderson that is part of CCSD. It is a Title 1 school and serves many disadvantaged students in the local Henderson community.
